Growing Together ECF Pathways - Haleemah Rawat

It’s our first blog post of the year for the ECF, and we are going to our star of the ECF, Haleemah Rawat.

She completed the ECF programme last year, and is now a mentor herself. She talks about her journey through the ECF and next steps,

Haleemah Rawat - Year 2 Teacher at Sudell Primary School

My name is Haleemah Rawat and I am the Year 2 teacher at Sudell Primary School in Darwen. Whilst completing my Initial Teacher Training, I was fortunate to have a placement at this wonderful school and was thrilled to be able to continue my career here as an ECT. Over the past two years, I have been given the opportunity to develop excellent classroom practice using the support, seminars and research-based pedagogy provided as part of the ECF Framework. This approach has ensured that I have been able to further my understanding surrounding classroom practice, in addition to being part of an understanding and trusted network of other professionals and colleagues.

My mentors, who also received fantastic training as part of the programme, have also ensured that I am well supported and always had my best interests at heart. As a result of the work of everyone involved within the training programme, I was able to overcome challenges and felt confident to take on more responsibility within school. This year, I have started to lead subject areas within our school and I am starting to shape the curriculum in my areas for all of our pupils – something which before my training and support I didn’t think I would achieve so early on in my career.

I would highly recommend this programme to any ECT beginning their journey in the world of education and I am grateful to everyone at Aldridge and Teach First for giving me the foundations to flourish in the future.
